It all started back in 2000. In order to graduate from Computer Science Technology, I was required to work at an established company for one semester. Believe it or not, my application got rejected twice.
That’s when I was offered a programming position at iNetVideo.com, an online retailer of movies & video games. After one month into the job, I fell in love with eCommerce.
Not only was I handling programming, I wanted to get involved in every aspect of the business (sales, merchandising, shipping, online marketing, customer service) – just about everything excited me.
When my 5 month contract ended, I wanted to continue working for the company. That’s when I accepted the job even if I was going to get paid less than $9/hr. I wasn’t thinking about the money. It was all about the eCommerce experience.
Honestly, I think I was the luckiest person during that time. 6 months after being hired, the head of iNetVideo.com decided to leave and I was the only qualified person to replace him. I accepted the opportunity and the rest was history.
I was able to take the company from $1million a year in sales to just over $19million in 2011.
During the past 14 years, I’ve tested many software solutions, launched numerous marketing campaigns, hired and fired tons of people, shipped over 5 million orders, created sophisticated systems to help us manage the business, attended & spoke at lots of eCommerce events and much more.
I live and breathe eCommerce from morning till night since 2000.
